Maybe I don't have enough deadlines or something. But I just spent my time dreaming about a word that I wrote on one of the Caricatures that I posted yesterday.

First, I was thinking that it would have been better if I predrew the letters bfore inking. It's always a toss of the coin during party-work - to predraw or not to predraw. So here I tried it again:

Eh. A hodgepodge. Would it be better if I decided ahead of time whether twould be AnglesAnglesAngles or gloppy curves?

That took too much thinking to be done in a Party situation. Oh well, Party Art is immediate. Fast and in the moment. The Artist has to let people really see her - unedited and raw.

But there are other options. Curly writing, of course, but that isn't usually wanted on Boy's Pictures. Calligraphy. I think that one of the first considerations should be Spacing. The Graffiti stuff I just posted above is tight. Perhaps I could use expanded simple letters sometimes:

Or not playing with Spacing at all. Not squashed together, and not expanded out. How about Speed and Bravado:

It's all good. Then I got to designing something that Looks like the meaning of the word? With Line-Quality:

That doesn't look like the meaning of the word. But I feel finished - Don't feel like working on it any more. Just now.

I'm thinking - maybe I'll keep up to date on posting Party Pictures this year. Here it is, Monday, and I'm already posting photos from Sunday's Bar Mitzvah. It was wild. The Bar Mitzvah boy was one of Seven children in his Family. Friends and Relatives - Lots.

So I just focused on doing my job. Drawing good pics quickly. Trying to keep Everybody happy. That means, as usual, that I don't really pay much attention to the photographs that I snap for this blog. I just aim in the general direction, and figure that I'll see whatever I see when I get back to the Studio.

Once again, I'm touched by how kind, sensitive, extremely caring some people can be. When I downloaded the photos off my phone, I was struck by one young boy who was so amazingly aware (and talented). He was one of the last people who I drew - very quickly - I wanted to draw as many people as possible. Now that I see the photo, I see that he tried to imitate the funny expression that I caught during one fleeting moment. Just having fun with the experience.

To all of you wonderful people - just out there to have a good time - -- I love you all.

It's my new iphone. Apparently it's so easy to use that I took soooooo many photos. I can't possibly post them all. But here's a few more from this weekend's Levittown Winter Event:

Happy Day. Working at a local Community Center. A pleasant-looking man sits down for his picture. "I'm usually the one with the crowds around Me", he says. Apparently, he's a famous fighter - was recently signing autographs at the big Comic-Con in the city.

He went out to his car and came back with a signed autograph for me. Note the problem that frequently comes up when people ask me to draw from photographs. They don't look like their photographs! This one shows a typical problem with photographs. His hair looks absolutely black in the untouched photograph. It happens because of the lighting and the camera:
