Time to get serious again. Enough playing around with my equipment. I have regular Caricature Parties and Events coming up in just a couple of days.
Tonight I chose to focus on Hair. I went on-line, chose random reference photos, and drew just the hair. I did it all WithOut a predraw ~ except for the men's facial hair.
Funny how I felt comfortable and happy with what I was doing ~ until I got to Men's Facial Hair. Then I had to work things out and do some predraws. I wonder if that's because I'm a woman ~ I don't shave. So I don't automatically review how facial hair grows every day.

Tonight I brought my August 25th Caricature into Procreate. Just scribbling around with Colors.
I Enjoyed it. But I did feel disappointed as I finished because I realized that I didn't actually Use the Special Features of the Digital Equipment that makes the Digital Equipment so Fantastic ~ things like those Special Brushes ~ yes ~ that the main thing that I missed.
Still, it was good for me. Many experiences.
Now I feel like I should make some Dull Color Palettes in Procreate too. It's a way.
Probably just until I figure out how to use RGB or CMYK in Procreate.

Oh. Frustrated. A long time ago, I thought that the IPad was going to work like Oil Paints ~ I was sooo good at easily mixing Any Color with Oil Paints. Of course, I gave up That idea.
Then a couple of days ago, I unexpectedly happened upon a YouTube that so simplified Digital Color Mixing. There were lots of them. My dream was Rekindled.
Hanging out at Whole Foods today, messing around in Procreate, I felt excited to have a chance to try it out.
But IT DID NOT WORK AT ALL FOR ME. Here's one of the YouTubes that describes it. Usually as Magenta, Cyan, and Yellow. Sometimes as Red, Blue, Green. Depending on whether you're in an Additive Or Subtractive Mode.

Oh My Goodness! Then I got it to work. In PhotoShop. Didn't even have to make Transparencies. The Colors just Change when I Overlapped them. But who draws with their big mouses in PhotoShop?? I still have to find out how to make it work in Procreate, and then I'll have to figure out how to Understand it ~ as clearly as I already understand how to mix All Colors with Oil Paints. To be able to Directly Mix Primary Colors to organically create Any Color at all.

Here are a few of the Caricatures that I drew at yesterday's Digital Caricature Event. I was in a Penthouse "Club", and it started getting pretty dark near the end of the Event. Didn't bother the Drawing Surface at all. The IPad stays lit up!
......even though it did get difficult to see the person i was drawing. Glad I carried along a decent light ~ even though I had to carry it with me all day in Manhattan. (I did Temporary Glitter Tattoos at a Daytime Event before this Digital Caricature Event). I do whatever I feel like my Party will need.
