I'm baaack. Has it been a day since the last time I posted ? :-)

Anyway, still preparing. So I can please my clients. Even the ones who are afraid of the unknown, afraid of giving up control, even of Artwork.

so here I am. Trying to control my pictures. To have Some exaggeration, so they'd be Caricatures, but to limit it for this week's client's request. I'm still working with the reference picture from my previous post of November 17th

I drew the first picture to limit the exaggeration of the woman. I felt like I could still moderately exaggerate the man ~ I decided to make his face thinner.

But oh. Ick. It's so hard to edit yourself in the moment. Real Party Fun involves an Artist working IMPROV. nO THINKing. No RUles. I don't imagine anybody would expect an actor to edit himself while doing IMPROVisational theatre ~ do you? That would make it no longer IMPROV.

Ick ~ I exaggerated the narrowness of his face. Then I stopped exaggerating because my of my client's request. So now it doesn't look good. Because The substance would have had to go Somewhere when I squashed it narrower. After squashing the 'balloon', it becomes Longer.

Not working 'on the spot', as I would be doing at the Party, I was able to redraw the picture. The second one ~ Yes. Feels like it would please both the Client And the artist.

I won't be able to second-guess my decisions at the event. It's going to be hard to 'limit my exaggerations', as my client ordered. So I'm going to spend the next whole day Practicing.

I've worked for so many years to develop my exaggerated Style. It works Great. But here I am - trying to Change. I like to help Everyone put together the Party they want. So they can anticipate joy and celebrations. Even the people who are fearful and controlling. Especially those people. They don't know how to be happy. They need my help.

I once heard a cute expression. This type of Caricature is for people who are looking to hire E-Gogh. Get it?

The storm is over. I just got my own Computer back onto the Internet. Phones working too. So today I got a call, and I promised to handle a gig 'less exaggerated' ~ a request from today's client.

"Okay ~ If that's what you want, I'll do that." I said. "It's actually so much easier for me. More like 'filling in the blanks' ".

Long day. Much to do. Then I came up to the Computer to relax. Ho-hum. What to do ~ I know! I'll look at some of these photos that are on my desktop. From a Bat Mitzvah where I drew recently.

I enjoyed perusing my photos for a while. Then I remembered today's client's request. Hmmm, I wonder what would have happened if I tried a simpler approach on one of these photos. Here's the exaggerated picture that Was Enjoyed at the Party. Next to the tamer picture that I drew just now.

Ummmm..... I don't know which one actually looks tamer. (although I do like the one from the Party better.) Maybe I'll practice some more tomorrow.

Still at the public library. Im trying to upload photohs for this blog. But oh, they look so fuzzy. I hope Illl be able to show them more clearly when the airwaves here are all cleaned up.

I found the photos of the Set-Up. Feels like a good idea to explain about the Set-Up for people who are designing their Parties.

If it's at all possible, it's a good idea to leave plenty of room for the Caricature Entertainment. I can work in as little space as you want, but it's much more Entertaining if it's displayed right. If we don't hide the activity in a closet. And I imagine you've hired an Entertainer because you want it to be noticed ~ Right?

I had arrived plenty early for this particular Party. And the staff was most accommodating. I was given plenty of space, and I was allowed to move tables and chairs around as much as I wanted. Look at how nicely I was able to situate the Guest's chair centered between the flowers. I liked the 5-chair set-up at that time, and the chairs were just the right type. Straight-backed for comfort which would also keep the Guests upright, not slumping. And there was just the right amount of space between me and the Guest, my perfect vision-distance.

I was able to set up the other chairs to hold my supplies and lights as comfortably as a piano (You wouldn't expect a musician to be able to play well if middle-C was in a different place each time s/he sat down ~ It's the same for a Party Artist ~ I like to set up my supplies orderly).

And there was plenty of room to walk around my set-up to get to the Guest-chair. It doesn't feel gracious if the Guests have no room to walk gracefully. So your Party would feel much more Upscale if there's enough space to move around.

But, lol, it's just about impossible to design my Life to be perfect. If we waited for everything to be Perfect, we'd never get anything done. We all have to make things work in the real world. What's troubling about this design. Can any of you tell?

Answer: The Guest will be Backlit. An Artist would know about that. What it means is that the face of the person I'll be looking at will be completely in Shadow. I won't be able to see the features this way. Oh. You might as well tie my hands behind my back and tell me to Draw.

But I didn't have any choice. This was where I was told to set up. And the whole Party room was like this anyway. I certainly wanted to be In the Party, and the venue used natural lighting quite tastefully. So what to do? What to do?

Luckily, I'm an Experienced Party Artist. I feel like I've encountered every sort of situation already. And that's why I knew to bring my lights even though this was a daytime event.

What I did was to use my lights. By shining a light onto the Front of the face, I was able to overcome the Backlighting. Problem solved. We were all very happy in this beautiful Party space. The Guests felt classy. And I was glad that it was possible for me to do a good job.
