What we have here is......testing stuff out to warm up before this weekend's Party. The pandemic has really impacted Parties around here, so I felt glad that I was able to jump right into it when I wanted to be sure I would be ready.

For this upcoming Event, the Client ordered Black/White Caricatures ~ with just a pop of Color if needed. To increase Production. So I drew Just the Lines for this practice Caricature. In the 2nd picture, I added a little Shading with gray marker. I like the immediacy of the first one better. This time, I'm preferring Outline Only to Outline with Shading. Good to know. I'll probably want to keep it simple at the gig.

Then, just for my own study (there's always Something that intrigues me), I added Color. Simple. Basically just using Home Color in the Shadow areas. That's something I do sometimes to save time. It works, it gives the answers.

But lately (probably because of the digital Caricatures I've been doing), I've been interested in filling in the whole area with the Home Color, and then going back in with a darker Color. Takes more time. But I feel like the 4th picture looks better than the 3rd one. More Solid coloring.

But oh ~ what I was really testing was this ream of paper. There was a mark on the backs of all those papers in the ream. 250 papers. Figuring that it's just on the Back of the paper, I Wited it out. I wanted to see if I would still be able to use these papers at an event. Yick. It wasn't disturbing to color over that area, but I can see a horizontal rectangle formed by the relief impression of the Wite-Out area. Not very noticeable. I would feel really surprised if anyone noticed it without me mentioning it. But I know it's there. Feels wrong to have this at a gig. Oh. Dagnabbit. Well...... now I have a lot of very good Practice paper.

The last picture ~ finished up with a litl background Color. Yes ~ even better.

What I learned from tonight's expedition is that the most beauty is in the Simplest or in the Most Evolved. The ones in the middle are 'not really doing it'. Not really doing either thing.

Oh my goodness. These days are like crazy for us Artists. I used to check Every Day for what's coming up, but COVID put a damper on things. So there I was, 2am last night, ready to end my day, when I remembered I wanted to check on when my Next booked Event will be. So I dragged myself back to my office to check my list ~ even though I figured it would be in about a Month. Since I just drew Caricatures at a Party last weekend. And Covid has sure slowed down business for Party Entertainers.

Oh my goodness. Egads, egads. Dare I go to sleep? I saw that I had booked a Baptism for Tomorrow! Tomorrow! It had been Rescheduled from a previous date ~ because of the Pandemic.

So, oh ~ I just did much less than half of the stuff that I planned to do today ~ then turned my attention to tomorrow's Gig. What to do first? Clothes?? Supplies? Draw on Paper???

That's what I did. Looked online for a Reference Photo of a Baby Boy, and drew a Very Quick Caricature. It worked out great. So easy for me. I got right into it. Maybe I'll come back in with Color later, but for now..... Posting on my website. I like my Readers. I think of you often.

and I do have Supplies the Supplies that I had put together previously Before the original date had to be changed. Once I realized that I'd just have to Revamp that, I felt like I had a little more time to practice a Group Caricature for the Baptism.

So Online I went. I found a quick Reference Photo of 5 people together. Figured I'd draw the Baby first. But oh no. This was not useable. (That's the bottom face on the 2nd picture here). So I did some troubleshooting with my technique, and drew it much better ~ but using up the space where I planned on drawing the other people gotta go now

Here I am again ~ Drawing a Party Style Caricature Quickly. Not.

Based on a Reference Photo of a woman that I drew in person at a previous Event. I just get so into my picture. When I'm home.

But I know how the people affect me when I'm drawing at an Event. Then I can count on my automatic drawing, so I can focus more on the People than on the drawing. So the drawing will go faster. There.

today i felt curious to fuss around with the extra Coloring that I posted back on June 3, 2020. Onto a Caricature that I actually drew At a Party.

Since I didn't have the Original, I scanned the photo of it into Gimp and made it all Gray. Then I changed the levels so I could print it out as uncolored Lines on white paper.

I spent more time playing around with the Colors than I intended. Not going to be useful at a Party.

So I printed out the linework again, and Colored it more simply, but it still took longer than what I actually did at the Party.

My Party Experience indicates that people are just as happy with the first one that I actually colored At the Party ~ where they are more interested in getting it handed to them as Quickly as possible, getting a good laugh, and walking off to show it to their friends.
